NetBoss XT – a network monitoring system

Since 1995 TECOM has been involved into designing, testing and integration of the automated network monitoring and maintenance system and heterogeneous telecommunication equipment management system, based on NetBoss XT, a product by NetBoss Technologies, Inc.

NetBoss XT is a multipurpose telecommunication networks management system designed to monitor networks, detect failures and provide network maintenance and performance analysis. The managed network may consist of heterogeneous equipment from different providers.

NetBoss XT functions:

• Administrative Functions – an automated management solution for controlling network elements and services. The data model approach, employed in the Administrative Functions, gives you a simple and automated way to keep your network view up to date to match your constantly changing operations, maintenance, and policy and procedure requirements
• NetBoss XT Fault Analysis integrates topology based element alarms and reporting with investigative drill-down to uniquely identify problems to a specific resource.
• SLA-based performance and management analysis.
• Multifuncional root-cause analysis.

NetBoss XT has more than 300 specialized software components - intellectual agents. They permit to manage the equipment of almost any known vendor and interface with major OSSs. Moreover, the system contains an integrated development environment and virtual programming language which help to quickly create new intellectual agents or enhance functions of existing ones.

The system also includes an option of graphical representation of various correlations and statistics. The graphical representation of network (including the state of separate elements) dramatically simplifies the monitoring process and allows to locate troubles, precisely and clearly configure separate elements or the whole network. To analyze the obtained data you can use the integrated expert system. Any data on network troubles can be inserted into the trouble-tracking system for analysis.

NetBoss XT-based solutions save time and effort required to analyze information supplied by different network elements, provides statistic analysis of that information and, thus, simplifies decision-making for efficient network management.

NetBoss XT has a flexible modular customizable structure, and thus can quickly respond to changing requirements including system enhancement through adding new applications.

NetBoss XT is built on open multi-user and multi-task architecture “client-server”. You can operate NetBoss XT either in a solo mode or use it as a distributed system, installed on several computers of different types . The system may include one “master” system and several subordinate systems reporting to it. Several interacting “masters” or single-range configuration are also possible. In each case all messages are synchronized in all NetBoss-systems which allows each network management station to work as a backup device if other NetBoss XT-based systems fail.

With scalable hardware architecture of NetBoss XT you can choose capacity levels for your computers depending on the size and sophistication of the managed network. With the growth of your network you can update the previously purchased hardware without re-installing the system (memory upgrade, storage devices capacity enhancement, additional CPU installation).
