2005-04-21: Tecom Group Announces Contract Award for Handheld Computer System

Melbourne, Florida - April 21, 2005 -Tecom Group, an engineering product and services company, has been awarded a contract for handheld computers and software from K.C. Auto Supply in Chicago, IL. The contact is based on the new Tecom product, SVS (Store-View-Sync).

K.C. Auto Supply is a jobber in the Paint, Body, and Equipment (PBE) area of the automotive aftermarket industry. They operate a fleet of delivery vehicles in the greater Chicago area providing paint, supplies and tools to auto repair shops. Each driver will have a SVS handheld computer to store data and record inventory transactions. Each handheld will synchronize with a central database via wireless communications channels. Once information is in the database, the other vehicles, as well as headquarters operations at K.C. Auto, will be able to view the current status of inventory at all locations. This will allow transfers between vehicles to take place for high priority items.

In addition to tracking inventory, SVS provides other functions for mobile workers. They are able to review past purchases for each customer, see open credit balances, and take orders from a stored inventory list. Product information on each item is stored in the computer, as well as images of the products. Customer contact information is stored in the handheld and can be updated if necessary.

Payments may be accepted and credited to specific invoices. When deliveries are made, customer signatures can be captured and stored for verification of deliveries. Invoices and other reports can be printed and left with the customers.

Each vehicle picks up items from warehouses for re-sale to customers. The SVS computer automatically generates purchase orders based on current shortages, as well as forecasted sales. Quantities of received items are entered into SVS, which assists in reconciling the vendor bill with the K.C. Auto purchase order.

Pangaea Systems, also of Melbourne, is supplying the database. The award winning Enterprise database allows multiple sites to synchronize quickly over a variety of communications links. Web ordering portals tailored for customer needs are an inexpensive option.

"We did an exhaustive search for our new software, and the Tecom/Pangaea team was the only one able to meet our needs," said Kurt Casas, president of K.C. Auto Supply. "This system will allow us to more rapidly meet the needs of our customers and allow us to continue our rapid growth," he added.

Tecom Group is a multinational engineering development and services company with offices in Melbourne, Florida. Tecom provides engineering services to US customers, including Harris Corp. and General Electric. Pangaea Systems provides software systems to the PBE industry, as well as other markets. Their products are in use at hundreds of customer locations worldwide.
